The after day 1.

Just completed the first run/walk of the 6 days a week 8 week run/walk program, deep, deep, down I thought it would be a piece of cake but I was wrong. In fact, I did not complete the last two cycles of running. My legs started feeling really tired, and my flat feet starting acting up. I wore walking shoes over running shoes since this part of the program involves more walking than running but I think I need a shoe with more arch support. When you first start out on anything new it's usually hard so in case this post is giving off a negative vibe I am still really hopeful. I’m looking forward to tomorrow the walk day; I may add a little weight lifting tomorrow.

Back on Track

I'm getting back on track with my goal to run at 7.0 for an hour on the treadmill.  This weekend my sister and I went to a nearby trail and took a health walk and it felt so good to be moving.  We ran a bit, but that little bit help me know that I still got a little something still in my tank.

I just goggled an 8-week beginner walk program that I’m going to start tonight.  I don't like having to start over again at the bottom but in the past I think I've tried too much too fast and ended up doing nothing.  This program will have you running for 30 minutes at the end of 8 weeks.  I did a plan like this before and it worked for me so I know I’ll have success.  I'm going to start tonight so I hope to log back in and update with my progress.  I'm going not think to hard about my long-term goals but for now I’m going to focus on my short term goal, finishing this program and running for 30 minutes at the end of 8 weeks.

The program is 8 weeks long and involves 6 days a week of exercising.  During the first week you run/walk for 30 minutes and just walk for 30 minutes on alternate days of the week until you reach day seventh day and on that day you rest.  When you walk/run you walk for 2 minutes and run for 1 minutes 10x which will total 30 minutes.

I'm sore...winner.

Today was the first day of BOOTCAMP.  Yes that is BOOTCAMP in all capitals letters.  I must admit though that is was not as tough as it was last year when I attended one BOOTCAMP class, but it still was a much more intense workout than I'm use to, my poor knees are wondering what they did to deserve the punishment.  The BOOTCAMP instructor he had us running sprints which I never do when I run, I usually do a very modest jog.  I’m still debating if I’m going to attend the workout 5 days a week or 3 days a week, it is suppose to rain tomorrow so this fact may move me into the 3 days a week category.  Either program, 3 or 5 days, will be a much needed boost to my current exercise regime which is 3 or 5 days a month.

Running to change.

I have not been to the gym since Saturday morning and now it is Tuesday night.  I’m not going to gain much in the way of endurance if I wait so long between workouts.  Tomorrow I have a meeting at work.  I think my boss is going to have me manage one his projects.  I’m a little nervous about such an undertaking but honestly I would be honored to have the responsibly.  Why am mentioning this on a blog about running…well… I want to run before I go to my meeting because I know running clears my mind however since it is late I know that running before work may make me sleepy.  I think I’m just going to take the run and drink a lot of coffee at work tomorrow.
Like I mentioned earlier, my last run was Saturday morning.  I am00 really proud of my progress, I was able to run for three minutes and walk for two minutes.  I was able for run for longer than I was walked.  As long as I stay consistent I will get better so I better go to bed, since tomorrow morning I’m going to try again for the three minute run and two minute walk cycle for 30 minutes.  I wasted time again today watching TV, one day I will not watch TV but I will get all the rest I need and I will run and I will read.  I so look forward to that day.

Day 1, here we go again.

I want to run.  I want to run like the wind.  I think I’ve always wanted to run and be athletic but just fell into this role of the lazy 20-something that watches TV.  Right now I love to watch TV but soon I will love to run.  So I guess the next part is my running goal.  Well… I want to run a half marathon, then maybe a marathon.  I've done a few 5K's but my fastest time was 42 minutes (I am a beginner in every sense of the word).  My first small goal to my half-marathon goal is to be able to run for an hour on the treadmill at 7.0.  I want to reach this goal because I want to do most of my marathon training at the gym on the treadmill.  I know many say that this is not a good idea, but I don’t really like running outside.  I like running on a treadmill because you don’t have to worry about the outside conditions that can change without any notice.  One day I may change this plan, I’m flexible, but for now I am a treadmill runner.  And goal number one is running on the treadmill at 7.0 for an hour.

Now that you know my goal, it would probably be a good idea to find out how far and how fast can I run now on the treadmill.  Like I stated before, I AM A BEGINNER, with that disclaimer out of the way I will reveal that at this time I can only technically run for 2 minutes at a speed of 5.5.  I’m doing a run/walk program that should work me up to running 30 minutes in about 10 weeks.  As you can see I have a lot of training a head and I look forward to keeping you up to date on my progress.
